7 Ways Fasting Can Rev Up Your Fat Burning Furnace

Flexible intermittent fasting is becoming a very popular way to use your body’s natural ability to burn lots of fat in a short period of time.

Here is a list of the ways that flexible intermittent fasting will turbo charge your fat loss.

1. Increases Fat Burning Hormones

Hormones are usually at the root of most of your metabolic functioning, and fat burning is no different. Growth Hormone is the most important fat burning hormone in your body. Fasting pushes growth hormone production into high gear and this makes your fat burning furnace start to work overtime. Fasting also decrease your insulin levels, which ensures that you burn body fat instead of storing it.

2. Increased Fat Burning Enzymes

Fat burning hormones need the help of fat burning enzymes to get their job done. Fasting will sky rocket the activity of two of the most important fat burning enzymes in your body. Adipose tissue HSL (Hormone Sensitive Lipase) is the enzyme responsible for allowing your fat cells to release fat so it can be burned as energy in your muscles. Muscle tissue LPL (Lipoprotein Lipase) is the enzyme responsible for allowing your muscle cells to take up fat so it can be burnt as a fuel. Fasting increases both of these enzymes to optimize fat burning - A perfect combination.

Short term fasting (12-72hrs) actually increases your metabolism and adrenaline levels. This causes you to increase calorie burning during the fast period. When I did my first fast I was shocked at how awake and energetic I was. My fasting days are now my most productive days of the week.

Every Day Carry Kits for Survival


























Here is an example of my EDC (every day carry) or Phase 1 survival kit. While these kits can be varied with a million different items, you should be thinking about what works best for you.

My kit consists of a glock 17 with 18 rounds of 124gr JHP ammo, waistband holster for concealed carry, tactical folding knife, IPhone 5, wallet, (magnifying glass fire starter, multi-tool, large piece of folded tin foil- all credit card sized and fit in wallet), keys with para cord bracelet with whistle and fire starter striker.

Yes you could add this and delete that all day long. Bottom line: this is what I actually have on me every time I leave the house. I'm confident that I could make it.

Think about it and optimize a simple yet effective EDC kit for you and your family. It might be a game changer one day. Better to have and not need right? Remember the commercial- what's in your wallet? This is the tactical version. Put your kit together and be more prepared tomorrow.

The Paleo Rant Revisited



















I support and agree with Paleo and Primal nutrition concepts in their general form. My nutrition program that I teach is rooted in the general Paleo and Primal concepts.

But when modern food products are labeled Paleo, I lose my calm composure.

I have ranted on this before.

I cannot stand modern food products with the word Paleo on it. 

For some reason it drives me insane. 

Now you can buy Paleo bread, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, ice cream, ice cream cones, protein bars, snack packs, trail mix and who knows what else. 

Hell, they will probably come out with Paleo edible underwear next. 

Do you really think Grok the caveman had anything like that? 

Hey Paleo honey, why don't you fire me up some Paleo bread in our Paleo oven, while I sip on some Paleo beer after a hard day of being a Paleo hunter-gatherer. 

Really People? 

What is worse is all the wanna be Paleo people who buy the crap, thinking they are Paleo, when they open up their Paleo package, that they received in their Paleo mailbox, from the Paleo mailman, after they spent a whole bunch of their Paleo money, on these unrealistic Paleo food items, that were made in a Paleo processing facility, and shipped out of the Paleo warehouse. 

It is so far removed from the original Paleo Diet concept that it is not even funny.

Spaghetti: Skip the noodles, eat the squash!

Hey,

I hope you are doing great!

Tonight, I made spaghetti squash again and it came out awesome so I thought you would want to hear about this.



This time I didn't cut the squash in half like many cooking methods call for.

I just stabbed it a hundred times with a knife all over and then baked it at 400 degrees for 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Pulled it out and split it down the middle and it literally just fell apart.

I scraped the seeds to the side and then used a fork to pull out the "spaghetti noodles".

Put the squash noodles in a bowl and added tomato paste, garlic, sea salt and baked chicken.

Stirred it all up and it was great.



The seeds will be dried out overnight and lightly salted to eat tomorrow.

They are super good for you too.

That is a simple and super easy way to cook spaghetti squash.

Forget the spaghetti noodles and try the spaghetti squash.

Tastes almost identical and it is so much healthier.

You can use your favorite spaghetti recipes and you will be surprised at how close it comes to the real unhealthy thing.

Tactical Tip: Practice Drawing Your Knife



Many people carry pocket knives as a utility tool and self defense back up weapon. Most people never practice a tactical draw of the knife in self defense mode. It is a good idea to add it to your training schedule because it might save your life one day. This video simply brings up the need for practicing the knife draw. Implement it and be that much more prepared.
