Women's Kettlebell Club
The Women's Kettlebell Club has a new member. Robbin joined the club this week by performing a one rep max double kettlebell squat to overhead press with 45lb kettlebells. Great work Robbin! This club is very exclusive as there are not many women who can perform this exercise with 45lbs in each hand. It is a true testament of strength and conditioning.
So the current member roster is:
Kara
Robbin
Who is next to join this exclusive club? The kettlebells are waiting to test you.

Dangers of High Fructose Corn Syrup Revisited
We have all seen the TV commercials saying that High Fructose Corn Syrup isn't bad for you and it's natural-it comes from corn right? Well don't believe it for a second. It's not good for you at all and it's found in damn near everything we eat or drink. Read your food labels and avoid it in any quantity.
Some of the reported effects of ingesting too much High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) include:
obesity
mineral losses
elevated blood cholesterol levels
copper deficiency
creation of blood clots
increase in the concentration of uric acid
increased the number of free radicals, damaged molecules that contribute to cancer and aging
Almost half of tested samples of commercial high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) contained mercury, which was also found in nearly a third of 55 popular brand-name food and beverage products where HFCS is the first- or second-highest labeled ingredient, according to two new U.S. studies.
The list goes on and on but I hope you get the idea. Stay away from HFCS and watch what your kids eat and drink for their sake.
The links below provide some alarming yet interesting reading about HFCS. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. Read and learn.

The Dark Side of Super Bowl Sunday
Whether or not you're a football fan there is a very good chance you'll be heading to a Super Bowl party this Sunday.
And as you are fully aware, these parties can be VERY hazardous to your waistline. But hey, it's not hard to keep the pounds from packing on while watching (or ignoring) the Colts vs. the Saints.
Here are three Super Simple tips to keep you slim this Sunday:
1) Take a 15 minute walk during halftime to stimulate your metabolism and improve digestion
2) Limit alcohol consumption. Not only are these "empty calories", but they also cause you to make poor food choices. And if you're hungover on Monday, well, you'll make poor food choices the day after the game, too!
3) Sure, you can enjoy some of your favorite "guilty pleasures" but you MUST avoid hanging around the snack table nibbling on everything in site.
BONUS TIP: Oftentimes when we feel hungry it is our body craving the proper nutrients it needs to be fueled with. That's a great reason to take a Whole Foods based multi-vitamin like Prograde Nutrition's VGF 25+ http://dempseysresolution.getprograde.com/vgfwomen OR http://dempseysresolution.getprograde.com/vgfmen
Have a great weekend,
Eric
